Michael: Hi! My name is Michael Lee. I think I saw you here on campus last year.
Tom: Hi. Yeah. This is my second year here. My name's Tom Cook. Do you live on campus?
Michael: No. I live with my aunt and uncle off campus. I like them, but I'd rather live in my own apartment.
Tom: Sure. Well, you know, I have a larger apartment than I need off campus. Maybe you can take a look at it.
Michael: That would be cool! Uh, how much would it be?
Tom: Well, the rent is NT$10,000. I think it'd be perfect for two students. We could share the rent and the utilities.
Michael: That sounds fair. Uh-oh! There's the bell. Can I meet you after class and get the address? Tom: Sure!

邁可： 嗨！我叫李邁可。我想去年我曾在校園裡見過你。
湯姆： 嗨。沒錯。今年是我第二年留在本校了。我叫湯姆．庫克。你住校嗎？
邁可： 沒有。我住在校外，與我叔叔嬸嬸住在一起。我挺喜歡他們的，不過我寧可住在自己的公寓裡。
湯姆： 那當然。對了，跟你講，我在校外有間大公寓，我一個人不需要住那麼大的地方。也許你可以去看看。
邁可： 太棒了！呃，那要多少錢？
湯姆： 月租新台幣 1 萬。我想對兩個學生而言是再好不過了。我們可以分擔租金及水電費。
邁可： 聽起來挺公平的。糟了！上課鈴響了。下課後我可以找你拿地址嗎？
湯姆： 沒問題！

Tom: Hey, Michael! I'm over here!
 Michael: Hi, Tom. Are you still interested in showing me your apartment?
 Tom: Sure. Do you have a pen?
 Michael: Yeah, I'm ready.
 Tom: I'm at 147 ZhongHua Road, 2nd floor. My cell phone number is 0937-112-082.
 Michael: Got it! What time is convenient for you?
 Tom: How about 8:00? I'd have dinner with you, but I already have a date.
 Michael: No problem. See you at 8:00. And thanks!
 Tom: Don't mention it.

湯姆： 嘿，邁可！我在這裡！
邁可： 嗨，湯姆。你還想帶我參觀你的公寓嗎？
湯姆： 當然。你有筆嗎？
邁可： 有，我有準備。
湯姆： 我住在中華路 147 號 2 樓，手機號碼是 0937-112-082。
邁可： 抄下來了！你什麼時候方便？
湯姆： 你看 8 點怎麼樣？我本想跟你共進晚餐，不過我已有約。
邁可： 沒問題。8 點見，謝了！
湯姆： 別客氣。

 Tom is in his apartment at 8:00 this evening. He hears a knock at the door and opens it.

湯姆今天晚上 8 點在公寓裡。他聽到一陣敲門聲後便去開門。

Tom: Hi, Michael. Come on in. You're right on time.
Michael: I hate being late. Hey! This is a really cool apartment. 
Tom: I'm glad you like it. Let me show you around. Of course, this is the living room.
 Michael: I see you have a TV and tape player.
 Tom: Yeah. A guy's gotta have a little entertainment, you know. Well, let me show you the extra bedroom. (They walk into the extra bedroom.)
 Michael: Wow! This is big enough for me. And it's already got a bed, a table, and a chair.
 Tom: I thought you'd like it. Now let's look at the kitchen. (They walk into the kitchen.)
 Michael: We've got a refrigerator, a stove, and a microwave oven. That's everything we need, isn't it?
 Tom: Yeah, it's plenty. Well, let's go back into the living room and talk about expenses, OK?
 Michael: Sure, Tom.

湯姆： 嗨，邁可。進來吧。你真準時。
邁可： 我討厭遲到。嘿，這間公寓真棒。
湯姆： 真高興你喜歡。讓我帶你四處看看吧。當然囉，這間是客廳。
邁可： 我看到你有一台電視機跟錄放音機。
湯姆： 沒錯，人總是要有點娛樂。好了，就讓我帶你去我多出來的臥房看看。（他們走進多出來的那間臥房。）
邁可： 哇！這間對我來說夠大的。而且裡面已經有一張床，一張書桌跟一張椅子。
湯姆： 我就知道你會喜歡。現在咱們去看看廚房。（他們走進廚房。）
邁可： 我們有冰箱、瓦斯爐和微波爐。這些全都是我們需要的，不是嗎？
湯姆： 是啊，已經很多了。我們回客廳談談費用的問題吧。
邁可： 好的，湯姆。

Tom and Michael are sitting on the sofa in the living room talking over how to share the apartment expenses.

湯姆與邁可正坐在客廳的沙發上討論要如何分攤公寓的花費。

Tom: Well, Michael, I already told you that the rent is NT$10,000 a month. The gas, electricity, and water run about $1000-1500 a month.
 Michael: That's reasonable. We can share those expenses.
 Tom: I have a lease with the landlord for one year until next May. He's a nice guy.
 Michael: I'm glad to hear that. Are you sure it's OK with him for you to have a roommate?
 Tom: No problem. Remember, there are two bedrooms here anyway.
 Michael: That's right. Well, Tom, I'm interested. When can I move in?
 Tom: Whenever you like. Sunday is the first of the month.
 Michael: Perfect! I'll move in this Sunday and give you $5000.
 Tom: Great, roommate! 

湯姆： 邁可，我曾告訴過你房租是一個月新台幣 1 萬元。瓦斯費、電費以及水費一個月大概是 1 千到 1 千 5 百元左右。
邁可： 蠻公道的。我們可以分擔這些費用。
湯姆： 我跟房東簽了一年的合約，明年 5 月到期。他人不錯。
邁可： 很高興聽你這麼說。但你確定他可以讓你再多一個室友嗎？
湯姆： 沒問題啦。記住，不管怎樣，這裡有兩間臥房嘛！
邁可： 是沒錯。湯姆，我挺有興趣的。我什麼時候可以搬進來？
湯姆： 任何時候都可以。星期天剛好是下個月的第一天。
邁可： 太好了。我這星期天就搬進來，我會給你 5 千元。
湯姆： 沒問題！我的室友。
