make a reservation (for sth)   預定 (房間、餐位等)

ex: I would like to make a reservation, please. (我想要預約，麻煩你。)

reserve  v. 預定

ex: Can I reserve a table for tomorrow night, please. (請問我可以預定一張明晚的桌位嗎?)

book  v. 預定

ex: I ‘d like to book / reserve a table for five for 8PM, please. (我想預定晚上八點一張五人座的桌位，麻煩你。)

 

hold the reservation   保留預定

ex: Please come on time. We can only hold the reservation for 15 minutes.  (請準時來。預訂只能保留15分鐘。)

 

 

A: How many are there in your party?   您一共有幾位?

B: We’re a party of five.   我們共有五位。

這裡的 "party"千萬不要解讀成「派對」，這字也有「一夥人、一組人」甚至也有「政黨，黨派」 的意思喔，這裡當然就是指一組人。

How many of you should we expect?   您共幾位?

 

 

Can we have a table by the window, please?  請問可以給我們一張靠窗的座位嗎?

Non-smoking   a. 禁菸的
Ex: I would like a non-smoking room.  (我想要一個無煙房間。)

Customer: Good afternoon. Do we need to make a reservation at your restaurant?
Waiter: You don’t have to, but we recommend it as it’s usually crowded at peak hours.
Customer: OK. Can we have a table for 4 people, tomorrow night, please?
Waiter: Of course. And what time would you need the table for?
Customer: 7:30PM, please.
Waiter: OK. That’s reserved. What name, please?
Customer: Mr.Books. Is it possible to have a table by the window?
Waiter: Yes, of course. I will reserve a nice table for you there. See you tomorrow at 7:30PM.
Customer: Thank you. See you tomorrow.
