篇章結構

Until the 1990s, more than 80% of the population of the United States was white. In those days, if one were to visit a toy store, they would find that nearly all of the dolls for sale were fair-skinned. Black or Asian dolls were few and far between. __1__ However, dolls with disabilities or uncommon physical characteristics are still quite rare. *Then along came Amy Jandrisevits.

__2__ In the hospital where she worked, she saw kids with a range of physical differences. She used dolls to work with disabled or disfigured children in play therapy. This helped those children who were quite conscious of their different physical appearances to more easily express themselves through play. __3__ Dolls designed to reflect different races, disabilities, as well as hair and clothing, were made on her home dining room table. It became a mission in life for her.

__4__ This allowed her to set up a non-profit organization called A Doll Like Me. She received enough funds to increase the number of dolls she could make without financial pressure. This site introduced a selfless woman who has devoted herself to providing children less fortunate than others with a doll they can relate to. After all, everyone wants to feel that they fit in.

(A)  Amy began to make cloth dolls to represent the children she worked with.

(B)  Over the past few decades, though, dolls of other races have become widely available.

(C)  A few years ago, GoFundMe, an online fund-raising platform, chose Amy as one of their “Heroes.”

(D)  As a mother of three and a social worker at a children’s cancer unit, Amy was surrounded by children.

答案:  1.B 2.D 3.A 4.C
