Dear Ms. Winkler,
Thank you for contacting us recently to inquire about writing for our company. As you are probably
aware, we are a large publisher with many titles, including magazines, novels, non-fiction literature,
and textbooks. From your letter, it’s clear that you are interested in mainly writing for our travel
magazine, Away and Beyond . I’m pleased to inform you that Away and Beyond does purchase
articles from freelance writers. However, I must advise you that competition is quite fierce. Every
week, we get submissions from many professional writers. For your information, the chief editor of
that magazine is Jill Fairmont.
You should become familiar with the magazine’s policies. To that end, I have enclosed with this
letter the mailing address of Away and Beyond and the email address for Ms. Fairmont’s personal
assistant, Mr. Brent Tarrington, along with the general submission guidelines for the magazine.
You should also be aware that while it’s acceptable to email queries and messages to Away and
Beyond or our other publications, we will not accept emails with attachments because of the
potential for viruses. This regulation includes all writing samples and any unidentified files.
