The Diary of a Bookseller by Shaun Bythell is a seriesof diary entries about the author’s daily life as a bookseller in Wigtown, Scotland. The name of Shaun’s bookstore is The Bookshop. It is the largest second-handbookstore in Scotland and contains roughly 100,000 books. In the diary, Shaun describes what it is like to run a large bookstore. He even includes details about his daily sales and profits, which can vary greatly from day to day.
Shaun also talks about what his staff and customers are like. Some of them are quite interesting. One of his staff members likes to make fun of him on the bookstore’s social media page. Another staff member is from the United States and came to Wigtown to escape the busy life she had in California.
Many of the store’s customers are tourists from different parts of the world. Some visit the store tolook forinteresting books, and some come to find good prices on used books. There are also people who come to the store with bags of books that they wish to sell.
