　The Primetime▼ Emmy Awards ceremony is known as the Emmys. It is set to take place on September 20. Each year, the ceremony honors excellence▼ in the TV industry. This year will be the 72nd awards ceremony. The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will organize the ceremony.

　　黃金時段艾美獎頒獎典禮又常被簡稱為艾美獎。今年的典禮預計會在九月二十日舉辦。每年的頒獎典禮都會表揚電視圈的傑出表現。今年的頒獎典禮為第七十二屆。美國電視藝術及科學學院將統籌主辦這個盛會。

　At the first ceremony way back in 1949, there were only a few awards for shows that were made locally in Los Angeles. Now, there are over 100 different award categories at the Primetime Emmy Awards alone. Then there are the Daytime Emmys, the regional Emmy awards, and even the International Emmy Awards. 

　　早在 1949 年的首屆典禮中，當時只頒出了幾個獎項給洛杉磯當地製作的電視節目。但時至今日，光是黃金時段艾美獎就設有一百多種不同的獎項類別。此外還有日間時段艾美獎、地方性艾美獎，甚或國際艾美獎等。

　Every year, actors, directors, and production crews▼ flock to the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. They hope to be recognized for their work over the past year. Winners receive a gold statue of a woman with wings, who is holding an atom▼ above her. The design has been the same since the first ceremony in 1949. It represents the goal of improving the art and science of television broadcasting. The woman’s wings are a symbol for the muse▼ of art while the atom stands for scientific progress.

　　每年群星、導演及製作團隊都齊聚在洛杉磯的微軟劇院。他們都希望過去一年所付出的心血能受到表揚。獲獎者會得到一座金色雕像獎座，上頭刻著一名背後長著翅膀、高舉著一顆原子的女子。獎盃的設計自從 1949 年首屆典禮以來從未變過。它代表著提升電視廣播藝術和科學的這項目標。女子的雙翼象徵藝術創作的靈感泉源，而原子則代表了科學技術上的進步。
