When someone mentions hippos, what image comes to your mind first? A lot of people picture hippos as largely water-dwelling creatures that swim along the surface of the water. However, although hippos do spend much of their time in water, the idea that they are “swimmers” is, strictly speaking, a mistake. Hippos do not swim in the traditional sense. A more accurate definition of their movement would be to say that they “walk” or even “bounce.”
