Nineteenth-century author Charles Dickens is one of the most esteemed and influential writers in the English language. Despite his literary genius, however, Dickens had notoriously poor handwriting. And to make matters worse for contemporary scholars studying many of his unpublished writings, he often used his own form of shorthand. __2__ A number of his unpublished manuscripts were written in this mysterious script. In 2021, more than 150 years after the author’s death, a project was established to decipher the code and transcribe the manuscripts.
