In New Taipei’s Xizhi District, craftsmanChiang Ming-chien can be found in his workshop, busy with carpentryprojects. His workshop is named Smooth Worksite , which used to be located in a red-brick building that was once a traditional tea house for the better part ofa century in Nangang District. Chiang renovated the old building himself, and it has been the location of the workshop for nearly five years. Now the workshop has been relocated, and its current place __1__ his tools for woodworkingand all manner ofprojects.
Since he became a master craftsman, Chiang has dedicatedhis services and his workshoptohelping preserve and enrich Taipei’s cultural __2__. As a child, Chiang was fascinated by the work of carpenters. He enjoyed watching them work to build, repair, and renovate traditional buildings. This inspired him to __3__ a career as a carpenter. Now, Chiang hopes to keepthe spirit of traditional craftsmanship aliveby __4__ that knowledge. That’s why Smooth Worksite also doubles asa classroom, where Chiang and other craftsmen teach valuable skills to those interested in learning.
