draw a blank
此處的 draw 表「抽(籤/獎)」，blank 表「空白」，draw a blank 意思就是「抽到空白籤」。 英國古時候的樂透是以抽籤的方式進行，抽到空白籤或空 白彩券就表示沒中獎。draw a blank 後來便引申為「希望 落空」、「找不到某物」或「想不起某事、腦中一片空白」。
• I’ve asked my friends if they had seen my glasses, but they all have drawn a blank.
我問我的同學們有沒有看到我的眼鏡，但他們全都毫無頭緒。
• Marvin drew a blank on the name of an old neighbor that he ran into at the mall.

draw 表「抽籤、抽獎」時亦可作名詞用，the luck of the draw 字面意思為「抽籤得來的幸運」，也就是「全憑運氣」或「聽天
由命」之意。

draw the line (at...) (給⋯⋯)定出界線;絕不做/接受(⋯⋯)
draw 作動詞時也可表「畫」，draw the line 原意為「畫一條線」，古時人們在地 上畫線以區隔彼此的土地，draw the line 後被引申為「定出界線」或「絕不做/接 受」之意。
• Paul often works late, but he draws the line at working on weekends.
保羅雖然常常工作到很晚，但他絕不在週末工 作。
