Being itchy from time to time is a part of life. What’s more, having an itch that’s hard to reach can be very annoying. Imagine trying to scratch your body if you had no hands. What could you do to get some __1__? If you were a big fish, such as a tuna, you would find a suitable surface to rub against. It may come as a surprise that yellowfin and bluefin tuna use surfaces that have razor-sharp♦ teeth and killer instincts: sharks.
Researchers Christopher D. H. Thompson and Jessica Meeuwig from the University of Western Australia examined thousands of hours of video __2__ underwater to uncover this interesting fact. The pair concluded that the fish do this to get rid of dead skin or parasites that have attached themselves to the fish. It also appears the fish are __3__ the possible danger of getting so close to sharks. When rubbing their heads and bodies against the predator, they stay near the tail of the shark, not its head. Also, it is the larger species of fish that are much more likely to try this technique.
