With water temperatures being around 40 degrees Celsius, Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs in Canada’s Yukon Territory is a warm place for people looking to escape the cold winters. In 2011, the spa management introduced an extra elementof fun in the form of the Hair Freezing Contest. The event started out with only around 15 participantsin the first few years. Since then, the number of participants has risen to about 300, with people coming from all corners of the world.
There are different categoriesfor people to enter, including Best Male, Best Female, Best Group, Best FrozenFacial Hair, and Most Creative. Another category, People’s Choice, is decided by an online vote. The winner of each category gets CAD $2,000.
