        Just like the young prince and his special clothing, young people today celebrate by wearing beautiful clothes. Women often wear very fancy kimonos called furisode. This type of kimono has very long sleeves and is quite expensive. Many women will rent their furisode from a shop and have professionals help them get dressed. They also often go to salons to have their hair done in beautiful styles.

        Men usually wear a Western-style three-piece suit for the holiday. A traditional outfit called montsuki haori hakama is also often worn by men. This special suit consists of a traditional half coat, a Japanese skirt for men called a hakama , and a long nagagi .
