The island of Taiwan has some unique traditions for the Lantern Festival. In the north, the town of Pingxi hosts a festival of sky lanterns. Visitors can write their wishes on paper lanterns and release them into the sky. Another famous traditional event is held in the south of the island. In the town of Yanshui, people celebrate the Beehive Fireworks Festival, which is one of the most dangerous events in the world. In the event, thousands of firecrackers explode on every corner. Participants have to wear motorcycle helmets and protective clothing. It is said that the more times you get hit by explosions, the better your luck will be.
