BTS Visits the White House to Speak on Asian Hate
BTS 訪白宮呼籲終止亞裔仇恨
Racism is nothing new; however, with former US President Trump blaming China for the coronavirus , racism against Asians grew dramatically. On May 31, the world-famous Korean boy band BTS spoke at a press conference at the White House. They spoke to address the current issue of Asian hate.
Band members J-Hope, Suga, Jungkook, V, Jin, RM, and Jimin gave short statements on the matter, mostly in Korean. They said that they were devastated by the recent wave of hate crimes directed towards Asians, and that they hoped people could be more accepting of others’ differences. They hoped that their presence at the White House was a step in the right direction to end Asian hate. BTS then thanked their fans, also known as the “ARMY,” for their continued support and diversity before they left.
