✦ 會使用到 tell 搭配詞的 8 種常見時機 ：
1 傳遞訊息、秘密或知識：
- He always knows how to tell a good joke at parties.（他總是能在派對上講一個好笑話。）
- Can you tell us a joke to lighten the mood?（你能講個笑話讓氣氛輕鬆一點嗎？）
- Grandpa used to tell us stories from his youth.（爺爺過去常給我們講述他年輕時的故事。）
- The book tells a fascinating story about a magical land.（這本書講述了一個關於一個神奇土地的迷人故事。）
- Please don't tell anyone my secret; it's important to me.（請不要告訴任何人我的秘密，這對我很重要。）
- He couldn't resist telling the secret to his best friend.（他忍不住告訴了他最好的朋友這個秘密。）
- Can you tell the time? My watch seems to have stopped.（你能看時間嗎？我的手錶好像停了。）

2 向某人傳達信息、故事或事實求：
- He told us that the meeting has been rescheduled for next week.（他告訴我們會議已經改期到下週。）

- The book tells of the struggles of immigrants in the early 20th century.（這本書講述了20世紀初移民的困境。）
「tell of」更常用於講述比較歷史悠久、古老或不太常見的事物、事件或情況。這個片語通常帶有一種描述性和叙述性的語氣，用來介紹一個故事或描述一個事件，強調其歷史性質或重要性。

4 區分、辨識或認知：
- The twins looked so similar that even their parents couldn't tell them apart.（這對雙胞胎看起來非常相似，連他們的父母都分不清他們。）
