Sarah Dessen’s book, The Truth About Forever , is a best-selling teen novel that was published in 2004. The novel received good reviews and two youth fictionawards.
The main character of the novel is Macy Queen, a 17-year-old girl. The story is set in the United States, in a wealthy neighborhood called Wildflower Ridge. After her father suffers a fatal heart attack during their morning run, Macy is heartbroken. She stops running after his death, and her mother begins working more than ever. They struggle to talk about the loss.
Macy has a boyfriend, Jason, who is smart and kind. When he goes away to summer camp, she takes over his job at the library. However, the time apart soon takes its toll, and when Macy writes to Jason, he replies with a suggestion that they take a break from their relationship.
Macy quits the library job and applies for a new job with Wish Catering, a local hospitality company. When she is accepted for the position, new opportunities begin to appear.
