on the left to the right over a half century ago. They called the shift Högertrafikomläggningen.

        Translated into English, Högertrafikomläggningen means “right-hand traffic diversion.” Since that word is considered a bit long, the Swedes __2__ it to Dagen H (H-Day)—the day on which Sweden officially changed from left-hand to right-hand driving.

        Sweden’s custom of driving on the left-hand side of the road goes back to the mid-18th century. In the spring of 1963, however, the Swedish government passed a bill which stated that the __3__ of traffic should be reversed by 1967. By that time, Sweden’s immediate neighbors, Finland and Norway, __4__ on the right-hand side, as were most other European countries.

        Much preparation had to be done, as one generally does not change a long-held habit overnight. That's especially true when a change in a country’s traffic flow could __5__ serious injuries and damage. In this case, however, the Swedes did make such a monumental change in just a single night.
