Reindeer, which are native to the Arctic region, are known for their ability to survive in harsh winter conditions, with a coat of thick fur keeping them warm and hoovesadapted for walking on snow and ice. Interestingly, another of the animal’s adaptations lends credibility to the most famous reindeer of all—Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Some species of reindeer have 25 percent more capillaries carrying red, oxygen-rich blood in their noses than humans. This increases the level of blood flow and also gives their noses a red tinge .
