Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) is an ancient form of transportation and entertainment. Stand-up paddleboarding’s origins have been traced to Africa, South America, and Polynesia. The activity __1__ a long, flat board that the rider stands on, much like a surfboard. Unlike surfing, however, the rider travels with the help of a long paddle and usually remains standing throughout the entire ride.
Stand-up paddleboarding is popular in a wide range of __2__. From slow cruises on flatwater rivers and lakes to full-on surfing, a skilled paddleboarder can acclimate to most __3__ situations. In fact, riders are often faster at catching waves than typical surfers. This is because they do not have to pop up to their feet when riding a wave.
