Charlie’s story is not that different from those of other teenagers trying to “survive” high school. He dreams of having friends, being included, and feeling like he belongs somewhere. Charlie’s timid personality keeps him from making any friends at first, so he is usually lonely. Only when Charlie puts forth abig effort to become more outgoing does he manage to make his first friend.
