Does sugar really give us more energy?

When most people think of sugar, they typically associate it with candy, soda, and dessert . However, sugar is found in many other foods. For example, most breads are high in a type of sugar called glucose. Fruit can have high levels of sugar called fructose, which makes it sweet.

Many people think sugar can give them more energy. The sudden boost of energy after people eat something sweet is called a sugar high. It is believed that this phenomenon happens when the amount of sugar in a person’s blood is higher than normal. Therefore, people may feel a sudden rush of energy when they eat candy. Maybe you have had this feeling after eating dessert or drinking something sweet.

It is also a common belief that sugar makes children hyper. This idea became popular because of a book that promoted the idea that children would be less hyper if they ate less sugar. Parents loved this idea because controlling how much sugar their children ate seemed like an easy way to manage their children’s behavior.
