     Anyone who has ever driven a vehicle has probably experienced anger while behind the wheel at some point. While some people's anger is mild, others' can be aggressive. The sudden violent anger provoked in driving conditions is known as road rage, a term that gained media attention in the 1980s.

     __1__ those who are most likely to experience road rage, evidence suggests that young male drivers tend to be the most aggressive. In addition, anyone experiencing high levels of stress in other areas of their life is __2__ harboring residual aggression when they drive. However, road rage can also be caused by external factors, such as traffic congestion, or incidents like being abruptly cut off by other vehicles.

     Studies have shown that road rage is a serious societal problem. Between 1990 and 1996, road rage was __3__ more than 200 deaths and 1,000 injuries worldwide. Experts analyzed that drivers suffering from road rage are irritated, and thus often make wrong decisions. Some aggressive drivers express their anger by speeding around other cars, while others may get into a fight. Such dangerous behavior poses a threat to both the drivers themselves and other road users.
