英文差個字 意思大不同 on time 準時 in time 及時

大家在準備多益的時候，有沒有發現某些片語很像，但意思卻不同呢？今天小編要介紹兩個跟時間有關的片語，希望大家不要搞混喔！

on time 和  in time 這兩個片語長得很像，意思也很接近，要怎麼記比較好呢？

 

in 在...之內；在…之前 in time 及時；及早

只要在時間點前到達，就是 in time「及早」囉！例如：

• David arrived in time for the party. 大衛及時趕來參加派對。
• Buck arrived at the airport just in time for his flight to Japan.
  巴克及時抵達機場，剛好趕上飛往日本的班機。

也就是只要大衛在派對開始前到，不管哪個時間點都可以用 in time。

• David arrived in time to attend the party. = David arrived in time for the party. 大衛及時趕來參加派對。

另外，in time 的句型是這樣。你可以依照後面想要接名詞還是動作來選擇 to 或是 for 使用。

 

on 在...時候 on time 準時；按時

相比於 in time，on time 更強調「在某個預定／期望的時間點」，也就是「準時」。

• David went to the party on time. 大衛準時到達派對。
• Thanks to your help, I was able to finish the work on time.
  幸虧有你的幫助，我才能準時完成這件工作。

 

你可以理解為，大衛就在派對開始的時候剛好到達。
