= The factory substituted robots for most of its workers.
（這家工廠用機器人取代了大部分的勞工。）- Linda went on the basbetball court and substituted for the injured player.
（琳達上了籃球場替換那名受傷的球員。）- Mother substituted garlic for red pepper to make the dish less spicy.
（媽媽用大蒜來代替辣椒以使那道菜吃起來不那麼辣。）

The consequence of losing a war is terrible. A defeated country is forced to accept all kinds of harsh terms such as relinquishing claims to part of its land, repaying war debts, and changing its form of government. Thus, in case of war, a country will do all it can to win it. As the saying goes, “In war, there is no substitute for victory.”
打敗戰的結果是很可怕的。戰敗國會被強迫接受各種殘酷的條件，諸如割讓部分領土、賠償戰債以及改變政府制度等。因此，如果戰爭發生，一個國家會盡一切力量以求得勝利。俗話說：『戰爭時，勝利是無可取代的。』
- relinquish vt. 放棄
replacement 是動詞 replace 的名詞形，意思是『取代』或是『替換的人或物』，常和介系詞 for 並用，例如︰
replace vt. 取代，替代
replacement 替換的人或物
- Although e-books are popular now, they won't be replacing printed books anytime soon.
（即便電子書現在很流行，但在近期內還不太可能取代印刷書。）- It would be difficult to find a replacement for Andrew.
（要找到接替安德魯的人很困難。）- It will be very hard to find a replacement for Michelle in this company.
（在這間公司裡很難找到能取代蜜雪兒的人。）
