 B  I’m afraid not. Can I take a message?
 A  Sure. Do you have a pen?
 B  Yes!
 A  OK. Tell him to give me a call at 656-8871.
 B  Will do!

 A  嗨，潔思敏。我是艾瑞克叔叔。妳爸爸在家嗎？
 B  恐怕不在。我可以幫你留話嗎？
 A  好呀。妳有筆嗎？
 B  有！
 A  好的。請告訴他打 656-8871這個號碼給我。

 1  call  vi. & vt. （給某人）打電話 & n. 通話
call sb back　　回撥電話給某人
give sb a call (at + 電話號碼)　　（撥某電話號碼）給某人打電話
When did Sheryl call yesterday?
雪柔昨天什麼時候打電話來？
I ’ll call Sheryl later.
= I’ll give Sheryl a call later.
我待會兒會打電話給雪柔。

take a message　　（幫某人）留言
leave a message with sb　　留言給某人轉告

 3  tell  vt. 告訴，告知（三態為：tell, told, told）
tell sb to V　　告知某人從事……
tell sb about sth　　告訴某人某事

 4  Will do!　 好的！（為口語用法，用於表示回答者將會執行被要求的事。）


口語技能 Speaking Skills

 1   Can I take a message?    我可以幫你留話嗎？

通話時若要「替他人留話」須使用動詞 take；若要「自己留話」則須使用動詞 leave。

我可以留話嗎？
 A  Is Rosie there?
 B  She’s not in. May I take a message?
 A  It’s Jim. Tell her to call me back. Thanks.
 A  蘿西在嗎？
