In late February, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) opened a new fab in Kumamoto, Japan. The founder of TSMC, Dr. Morris Chang, and the current CEO, Dr. C.C. Wei, were both present for the opening ceremony. The plant will allow TSMC to increase its production of the world’s most advanced semiconductor products. The event marked an important occasion for the Japanese subsidiary of TSMC, Japan Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing, Inc (JASM).
