For instance, there are times when people who post jokes online are taken seriously. Others might threatenthe person who made the post. They might even contact the person’s boss and have them fired from their job.
This type of canceling can also hurt a person’s mentalhealth. Canceling can make a person feel lonely, anxious, or develop depression. Cancel culture can also make people who haven’t been canceled feel worried or nervous because anything they say or do could result in an online attack. For these reasons, cancel culture can have a very serious and negativeimpacton society if it is used out of anger.
