歷史迴廊 (全英文講解)
The Louvre Museum is without question one of the most famous, if not the most famous museum in the world. Located in the heart of Paris, it boasts one of the greatest collections of artwork. People visit to see famous masterpieces like the Mona Lisa and historic statues like the Venus de Milo. But how did this museum become the center of the art world?
The museum is inside the Louvre Palace, which originally served as a fort built by King Philip II in the 12th century and was later transformed into a royal palace by King Francis I in 1546. As a great art collector, King Francis I decorated his residence with many pieces of priceless artwork that he acquired during his reign. The palace was expanded several times by subsequent monarchs, and more works of art were added to it over the years.
