全球節慶 | 本集 精彩教學影片(講解老師:Chris & Betty 老師)
On the night before Holi, people build a giant bonfire and burn statues of Holika. This act is a symbol of the legendary fire that claimed her life. People sing and dance around the bonfire to celebrate the end of evil.
On the next day, the wild festivities begin. People cover one another in brightly colored paint or powder, dance to music, and eat tasty snacks. There are many colors of powered dyes and colored water used at the festival, and each color has its own special meaning. Yellow represents turmeric, a type of powdered spice native to India, blue is for the god Krishna, red is for love and fertility, and green is for new starts. People enjoy traditional street food during the festival as well. One popular Holi treat is a sweet drink called thandai, which is made from milk, almonds, and spices.
