清明假期共有四天，你是否也已經作好返鄉掃墓及旅遊的規劃了呢？還是會選擇待在家痛痛快快地吃爆潤餅!?

往往連假期間，北上南下的車潮大量湧現，相信聰明的你已決定好搭哪種交通工具返鄉。
至於「清明」是傳統二十四節氣之一，除了慎終追遠、掃墓祭祖的習俗之外，當然還少不了吃該節日代表美食潤餅啦!

1. 清明節 (掃墓節)
Qingming Festival / Tomb Sweeping Day
(註: 清明可以直譯為Qingming/Ching Ming，當然若要更精確表達掃墓日可以說Tomb Sweeping Day。)

例: Qingming Festival (Tomb Sweeping Day) is a traditional Chinese festival where people usually pay their respects to dead ancestors.
清明節是中國傳統的節日，人們通常對已逝的祖先表達敬意。
 

2. 國定假日
national holiday

例: Qingming Festival (Tomb Sweeping Day) is an important national holiday in Taiwan, which follows the solar calendar and usually takes place on April 4 or 5.
清明節是台灣重要的國定假日，通常落在國曆的4月4日或5日。

3. 連假 / 四天連假
long weekend  (含周末的) 連續假期
consecutive holidays  連續假期 

例1: The highway will always be crowded with cars as long as there is a long weekend. 
只要一到連假，高速公路總會塞滿車子。

例2: What are your plans for the upcoming consecutive holidays? 
對即將到來的連續假期你有沒有什麼計畫?

4. 四天連假
a four-day weekend/holiday  

例: I’ve been looking forward to the four-day weekend for so long! I’m super excited about my trip to Kenting next week.
我已經期待這四天連假好久了，我對下週墾丁的旅行感到無比興奮。

 

1. 掃墓
tomb-sweeping  
sweep (vt/vi) 掃 / tomb (n.)墓地，墳墓
補: tombstone (n.) 墓碑 (=gravestone)

例: On this day, tomb-sweeping is one of the most important activities to show our ancestors respect.  
在這一天，掃墓是向我們祖先展現尊敬最重要的活動之一。

2. 潤餅 (沒炸過的春捲)
Popiah (Runbing) / fresh spring roll

例: We usually eat popiah wrapped with different ingredients during Qingming festival.
我們通常在清明節期間吃包著不同配料的潤餅。
 

3. 崇拜；祭祀
worship (vt./vi)

例: My parents and I will go to Pingtung to worship our ancestors next Saturday. 
下周六我將跟父母親前往屏東祭拜祖先。
 

1. 塞車
traffic jam / traffic congestion

例: There usually is severe traffic congestion on national freeways on the first two days of the Qingming Festival long weekend. 
在清明連假的首兩天，通常國道上都會有嚴重的交通阻塞。
 

2. 提早訂票
book a ticket in advance

例: Please remember to book tickets for the Qingming Festival long weekend in advance in case the tickets are all sold out. 
請記得提早預訂清明連假的車票以免車票全數售完。
