Dialogue B
C: Courtney E: Eugene
Courtney and Eugene are still discussing how to improve the salon’s business.
C: Thanks for the suggestions, Eugene. Now, I need to talk about your performance.
E: Well, I’ve only been here for a few months...
C: Don’t worry. Your skill as a stylist is impressive, but you need to work on your people skills.
E: My people skills?
C: Yes. You don’t talk to your customers enough, and I would like to see you smile more. We want to make people feel welcome and relaxed.
E: Oh, I see. I guess I can try to be a bit friendlier with guests.
C: Yes. That would be great. You are a nice guy, and shouldn’t be shy with clients. Try to find out what they are interested in and let them share their opinions. Lots of customers just want a friendly chat.
E: All right, I’ll try my best. Is there anything else you want to discuss?
C: Ah, one more thing. Don’t take this the wrong way, but your hairstyle is quite boring. Just like you said about our salon, you could also use a little style update.
E: Hmm, you’re probably right. I’ve worn my hair this way for years. Maybe it is time for a change.
C: That’s the spirit!
