H: Hostess

Andrew is calling the restaurant to make a reservation.

 H: Hello. This is Ivy Hills Restaurant. How can I help you?

A: Hi. I would like to make a reservation for this Friday. I’m throwing a big party for about 20 people.

H: Oh, I see. That’s a large group. What time are you planning to come?

A: Probably about 6:30 p.m. It’s a party for my office employees. Is there space available that night?

H: Hold on one moment. Let me check.
(The hostess asks her boss about space on Friday night.)

H: Well, I spoke with my boss. Unfortunately, our party room is already booked. Would you mind if we put some tables together in our main dining area for you?

A: Well, it’s not ideal, but should work fine.

H: OK, great. Will you have any children at your party?

A: No, it will just be adults.

H: All right then. One reservation for 20 people on Friday for 6:30 p.m. Can I have your name and telephone number?

A: Sure. It’s Andrew Robertson. My number is 234-5555.

H: Got it. We’ll see you on Friday, Mr. Robertson.
