Where the Forest Meets the Stars is a magical novel about a mysterious situation. Joanna Teale, or “Jo,” is a bird expert. She has recently lost her mother and is also battling breast cancer. Jo researches birds in the forest at night and seldom talks to other people.
One night, a young girl shows up at her door. The girl is barefoot and covered in bruises. She claims to be an alien named Ursa, and will only return home after she witnesses five miracles. Jo takes in Ursa with the help of her neighbor, Gabe, who also has difficulties in his own life. Jo and Gabe try in vain to find Ursa’s real parents.
Oddly enough, many good things happen to Jo after she meets Ursa. Also, while taking care of Ursa, Jo and Gabe start to develop romantic feelings for each other. They become like a family, bonding through their shared pain. Ursa teaches them how to love and trust again. But will she return to the stars in the end?
