In modern times, companies have used April Fools’ Day as an opportunity to play pranks and get attention. In 2014, the US-based media company called NPR published an article called “Why Doesn’t America Read Anymore?” In the article, they instructed all the readers to like the post but not comment on it. Everyone sat back and had a laugh as people started commenting to share their opinions on an article that they hadn’t even read.
Another good example of an April Fools’ Day prank was when PayPal, an online payment platform, announced in 2018 that they were adding a new feature to their app that would allow users to print cash right from their phones. The joke went viral and brought them a lot of publicity.
