Taipei Zoo’s star giant panda, Tuan Tuan, died in his sleep on November 19, 2022 after veterinarians gave him a large dose of sedatives to relieve his pain. An MRI scan showed that he had a brain injury, which had caused Tuan Tuan to have several seizures. Due to his failing health, the giant panda was unable to eat, walk, or have a high quality of life. Medical professionals from both China and Taiwan jointly agreed it would be best to put the 18-year-old panda to sleep.
Sadly, these abandoned animals in the shelters were eventually put to sleep.
令人難過的是,這些被遺棄的動物最終在收容所裡被安樂死。
