最近台灣嚴重交通事故頻傳，5/19 新北市三峽北大國小旁發生嚴重車禍，造成兩名學生與一名家長不幸身亡。沒想到事隔不久，又傳出另一名 78 歲高齡駕駛暴衝肇事，導致八人受傷。而上個月（21日）又發生一起死亡車禍，一名7旬老翁駕駛吊車，直接衝撞正在等紅燈的三臺機車，釀成一名 18 歲女騎士當場身亡，另有兩人受傷。交通意外是我們日常都會遇到的問題，但這些跟交通意外相關的英文詞彙該怎麼說呢？今天就一起學習常見跟交通有關的詞彙吧！
Traffic accident 交通事故
e.g., A traffic accident happened near the school this evening.
今天傍晚學校附近發生了一起交通事故。
Car accident 車禍
e.g., The young woman was injured in a car accident.
這名年輕女子在車禍中受了傷。
*注意：這裡用的是 accident 而不是 incident，因為 accident 通常指「意外發生」的事件，而 incident 則可泛指任何事件（不一定是突發或嚴重的）。
be / get injured 受傷
e.g., She was seriously injured in the crash.
她在車禍中嚴重受傷。
injury 傷勢
e.g., He suffered a head injury after the collision.
他在撞擊後頭部受傷。
wound 傷口、創傷；通常指外傷如刀傷或撞擊傷
e.g., The cyclist had deep wounds on both legs.
那位騎士雙腿都有嚴重傷口。
hurt 傷害、疼痛；語氣較口語
e.g., My back still hurts after the accident.
車禍後我的背部仍然很痛。
minor injury 輕傷
e.g., Fortunately, it was only a minor injury.
幸運的是，那只是輕傷。
serious / major injury 重傷
e.g., The accident caused several serious injuries.
這場事故造成數人重傷。
fatal injury 致命傷
e.g., One of the passengers suffered a fatal injury.
其中一名乘客受到致命傷。
collision 撞擊、相撞
e.g., Two cars were involved in a head-on collision.
兩輛車發生了正面撞擊。
fender bender 小擦撞
e.g., It was just a fender bender — no one was hurt.
只是輕微擦撞，沒有人受傷。
rear-end collision 追撞
e.g., A taxi rear-ended the car in front at the red light.
計程車在紅燈時追撞了前方的車。
run a red light 闖紅燈
e.g., The driver ran a red light and caused a serious accident.
駕駛闖紅燈，導致了嚴重傷害。
hit-and-run 肇事逃逸
e.g., The victim was injured in a hit-and-run.
受害者在肇逃事件中受傷。
