考試test 到底要搭配介係詞 on 還是 in呢?

Unit 19  do well in the test 或 on the test？

 

例 Ted did well on the English test this morning. (O)

(今天早上的英語測驗泰德考得很好。)

例 Hank scored 98 points on the monthly exam in math. (O)

(漢克數學月考考了98分。)

例 Anthony was caught cheating on the pop quiz. (O)

(安東尼抽考作弊被逮個正著。)

 注意 ：以上各句在英式英語中也有人會使用in取代on。

 

 

a. 與pass（及格）對應如下：

例 Regarding the final exams, I got four passes and two failures. (X)

→ Regarding the final exams, I got four passes and two fails. (O)

(有關期末考，我有四科及格，兩科不及格。)

 

b. without fail　　務必；總是

例 You must finish the report by 5 p.m. without failure. (X)

→ You must finish the report by 5 p.m. without fail. (O)

(你務必要在下午5點以前完成報告。)

例 Every day, Ed has soy milk and two eggs for breakfast without fail. (O)

(艾德每天早餐都是喝豆漿及吃兩顆蛋。)

 

 比較     without failure　 若無失敗

例 There is no success without failure. (√)  (若無失敗就沒有成功。)
