陳太太：妳為什麼還不睡覺？
　芬妮：我睡不著。我整晚都在翻來覆去。
陳太太：妳有心事嗎？
　芬妮：有。我明天有一個大考
陳太太：妳唸書了嗎？
　芬妮：我好幾個星期都在 K 書，可是我都看不懂。
陳太太：那麼，不管怎麼樣，妳都不能不及格。
　芬妮：我不會的，媽。我保證不會讓妳失望。

 

俚語精解

hit 雖然是『打擊』的意思，但 hit the books 卻是指『唸書』。這個俚語其實翻成『K 書』會更為傳神，因為 K 在中文口語中就是『打』。

小雄已經高三了，可是他還是整天沉迷線上遊戲不讀書，媽媽怕他上不了好的學校，不禁憂心忡忡，每天都在碎碎念：
You'd better hit the books, or else you won't be able to get admitted to a good university.
= You'd better study, or else you won't be able to get admitted to a good university.
（你最好要 K 書，要不然你就上不了好大學了。）

hit 一字常常用在英文俚語中，如 hit the hay（去睡覺）。

Stop nagging! I'm going to hit the hay.
= Stop nagging! I'm going to hit the sack.
= Stop nagging! I'm going to go to bed.
