《阿凡達:水之道》 Avatar: The Way of Water

電影介紹

        Back in December 2009, famed director James Cameron released his visually stunning cinematic masterpiece, Avatar. This film, which takes place on  a distant alien planet called Pandora and follows a confrontation between humans and the local inhabitants called Na’vi, was praised for its use of cutting- edge technology to create a vibrant world in which moviegoers could be immersed. It quickly became one of the most successful films of all time, making billions of dollars and winning many accolades. Now, more than 10 years after the film went to the big screen, a sequel is finally set to be released.

 

        Avatar: The Way of Water is set more than a decade after the events of the last film. It follows the protagonist of the first film Jake Sully—a former human turned Na’vi—and his family as they fight to stay safe and overcome tragedy. While the original movie centered on jungle locations on the fictional planet Pandora, the sequel is centered around the aquatic habitats of the planet. The director James Cameron wanted to explore new environments rather than revisit the ones previously shown in the first film.

        While plans for the sequel were soon announced after the original Avatar film’s release, there have been many delays in production for the second movie. The high cost and technical nature of filming underwater led to planning delays, while COVID-19 paused production for a short period of time. Despite all the setbacks, fans everywhere are excited to see Avatar: The Way of Water when it comes to theaters in December.
