E-book readers, or e-readers, are electronic devices designed for reading digital books. They allow users to store multiple books and switch between them effortlessly without the need to carry physical copies. The growing trend of digital reading is evident in ISBN registrations , with e-books now accounting for 40% of total book registrations. Additionally, overall reading time has increased, according to Rakuten Kobo, the world’s second-largest e-reader brand.
This year, the Taipei International Book Exhibition shifted away from its traditional print-focused approach but still attracted a large crowd of book lovers. The event became a battleground for e-reader manufacturers, as Momo, Eslite, and Books.com all launched their own devices in late 2024 and early 2025.
As digital reading continues to gain momentum , the publishing industry is evolving to offer readers more choices than ever before.
