Valentine’s Day isn’t the only day for true love to take hold.
When it comes to the most romantic days of the year, Valentine’s Day probably takes the top spot, at least in the Western world. In Japan, however, there is also White Day—another occasion for couples.
To understand how White Day came to be, we should first learn about how Valentine’s Day is celebrated in Japan. For the Japanese, Valentine’s Day is a holiday for girls to give chocolates to the boys they like. White Day is, in contrast, when boys give gifts to girls on March 14, exactly a month after Valentine’s Day.
