The pie chart, divided into six slices, indicates how much water is used domestically in Taiwan. First, water for showers and baths accounts for the largest consumption of water (27%), with toilet (22%) and faucet (21%) use being almost equal. Doing the laundry is another source of water use, making up 15% of the total. The loss of water through leaky pipes is recorded at 9%, while other minor things constitute 6%.
Like with most families, the primary uses of water in my home are the showers, toilets, and faucets. Since water shortages have become a serious global problem, my family does its best to reduce the amount of water used at home. First of all, we installed low-flow faucets and dual-flush toilets a year ago. Also, while waiting for the shower to heat up, we use a bucket to collect water for cleaning purposes or watering plants. In addition, when we brush our teeth, we keep the faucet turned off until we are ready to rinse. If possible, we only run the washing machine for full loads. Lastly, we check for leaky pipes on a regular basis. While these are only small adjustments, they do help save a considerable amount of water for my family.
