Places in Europe and North America have experienced extreme heat waves this past summer. Unfortunately, these are not the only regions to suffer from increasingly severe weather phenomena. As global temperatures continue to rise on average and climates change, extreme weather events are only going to become more prevalent in the future.
One of the most noticeable effects of global climate change is the increasing length and severity of heat waves. Some experts predict that extreme heat waves like the ones in Europe this past summer are now 10 times more likely to occur. Furthermore, the average duration of these heat waves has more than doubled.
