Several European countries mark Father’s Day in March. These places include Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Croatia. The date, March 19, stems from a shared Roman Catholichistory. The day coincides with the Feast of SaintJoseph, who was the father of Jesus. While it remains a religiousfeast day, March 19 is now a holiday celebrating all dads in these places. Father’s Day in Brazil, like Spain and Portugal, is connected to a saint’s day, but in the South American country, the day of celebration is the second Sunday in August. This day honors St. Joachim. He was the father of the VirginMary and, like St. Joseph, now shares his special day with all fathers.
