An outsider gets a second chance at life by disappearing from his own.
In The Day I Was Erased, it seems that young Maxwell is always getting into trouble of some kind. Though he may be annoying to some, he’s not all bad. He rescues his dog from being run over by a car, and he checks onhis elderly neighbor, Reg, after school. Maxwell even wins a contestthat benefits his school. However, those good deeds are quickly forgotten as soon as Maxwell messes up again. Before long, he comes to believe that everyone hates him, and he even goes so far as towish he had never been born.
As the old saying goes,“Be careful what you wish for.” One day, while looking through a mysteriouscabinetfull of strange things, Maxwell is somehowerased from his own life. It’s just like he had never been born at all.
