Japan is well known for its considerable number of vending machines. It has around four million of them, with over half selling drinks. In many countries, vending machines only sell cold drinks. In Japan, however, they also sell hot drinks, as well as noodles and even soup.
In Japan, vending machines are everywhere. The machines are placed outside of businesses, along streets, or in neighborhoods. They can also be found along hiking trails and next to temples. Two or three vending machines are often placed side by side. Some of them sell standard products like drinks and snacks, but unique vending machines can also be found all over Japan.
