J: John　　I: Immigration Officer

John is taking a flight at Taoyuan Airport and is about to go through immigration. An immigration officer guides him to use the e-Gate, which John is not familiar with.

J: Excuse me, I’ve never used the e-Gate before. How does it work?

I: It’s a quick and simple process. First, place your passport face down on the reader. The system will read your information and open the first gate.

J: Do I need to remove anything before stepping in?

I: Yes, please take off anything covering your face, such as glasses or a mask. Then, the system will verify your facial image.

J: What should I do if the verification fails?

I: If you registered your fingerprints before, you can use them for verification. Once your identity is confirmed, the second gate will open, and you’ll be good to go.

J: That sounds easy. Can anyone use the e-Gate?
