大家在準備多益的時候有沒有發現，有些動詞加上副詞和介詞之後意思就變了呢？今天小編要向大家介紹一個動詞，看看加上 up on 之後是什麼意思，希望大家以後遇到類似的情況時要多留意喔！
stock vt.（為販售而）備有，貯存，儲備
作動詞時是『貯存、儲備』的意思，也就是儲備貨物供銷售。當你走進店裡，懶得自己找商品時，你可以問店員：
Do you stock English wines?
｛你們有賣英國紅酒嗎？）This shop stocks a wide range of outdoor equipment.
這家店備有各種戶外用品。
stock up on... 大量儲備⋯⋯
Kevin has to stock up on a wide range of foods for the upcoming typhoon.
凱文得為即將逼近的颱風儲存各種糧食。
be out of stock / be in stock 缺貨／有貨
I'm sorry, but the necklace you are trying to order is currently out of stock.
很抱歉，您想訂購的項鍊目前缺貨。I'm sorry, but that toy you want to buy is out of stock.
（很抱歉，你要買的那個玩具已沒存貨了。）That perfume has been out of stock for the past two months.
（過去兩個月來，那款香水一直缺貨。）
have...in stock 有……的存貨
這裡的 stock 作名詞用，in stock 指的是『有存貨、有庫存』。當你在架上找不到想買的商品時，有可能是店家尚未補貨上架，你可以向店員詢問：
Do you have James Blunt's album in stock?
（詹姆斯．布朗特的專輯你們還有存貨嗎？）I'm afraid we don't have the blue shirt in stock.
（恐怕我們店裡目前沒有這件藍色襯衫的庫存。）如果沒有庫存，店員會說：
I'm sorry. It's out of stock.
（真抱歉，已經沒有庫存了。）Regretfully, the metal hinges you requested are currently out of stock.
遺憾地是，您要買的金屬鉸鏈目前缺貨。
"sold out" 源自片語 be sold out，與片語 be out of stock 有相同之意，同指『賣完了/缺貨』的意思，而名詞 stock 在此即為『現貨、存貨』。
The tickets for the concert were all sold out.
（那場音樂會的票全都銷售一空了。）This CD is out of stock right now, but we can order one for you.
（這張 CD 已經沒存貨了，不過我們可以幫你訂一張。）
stock n. 股票〔美〕；存貨，庫存；貯存（物）
he made a killing in the stock market several years ago.
他幾年前在股市大撈了一筆。Stan made a fortune investing in the stock market.
（史坦因投資股市發了一筆財。）The time is ripe to invest in the stock market.
（投資股市的時機成熟了。）The stock market took a nosedive in the oil crisis.
（股市價格在這次石油危機中暴跌。）
