這個字面意思很清楚了，就是”在外面的人”，也就是局外人，在Oxford 英英字典裡的解釋為” a person who is not accepted as a member of a society, group, etc.”不被某個社會或團體接受的人，所以也有「邊緣人」含意，但這個字感覺上比 loner 嚴重一點，因為身在群體裡卻無法融入，感覺很心寒吧~~~

這個字有一個很相似的動詞片語為”逐出 cast out “，而outcast就是名詞，”(of a person) not accepted by society or by a particular group”意思是不被社會或特定族群所接受，這真的是很嚴重的邊緣人了，希望我們身邊都沒有這樣的人~
